For one glorious night, I got to shoot video on the Charger Hellcat. It’s a car that makes you giggle from the sheer lunacy of it. I love that there’s a little button to switch from 700 hp to “only” 500 when you feel like not getting speeding tickets at every intersection.
What’s 700 hp like? It’s hilarious, utterly useless under 60 mph. Rear tires? What rear tires? Part throttle in this thing is a smoke show down the road for half a block. And the shifts! This auto shifts like a small rear-end collision at each full-throttle shift. I’ve never felt anything so fast and immediate.
I’m making a full-length video about this car that will be live on Driving.ca sometime next week. in the meantime, feel free to ask me any questions about the drug that is the Hellcat.

This isn’t important when talking about this car, but I love how you can actually see the engine.

They couldn’t fit the transmission into the tunnel.

They needed to make a larger tunnel then. WE NEED MANUALS!

My brother has the ‘13 V6. And at the ease it racks up more speed at 141 KM/H was just amazing, I can’t imagine but I have an idea how this must’ve felt.
“This auto shifts like a small rear-end collision at each full-throttle shift.”
